Happy Day #15

Lots of smiles today, it was just a great kinda day. :) yard sales in the AM, followed by Home Depot and home to fix up my backyard :)

Happy Day # 14

Almost 1 year ago I decided to do something for a friend, It was so amazing and I am still in awe of all the donations and money and toys/books/pillows/journals ect that we dropped off at Children's hospital. Specifically to the children of B tower.
 I am going to be having another auction and I will be looking for donations :) hint hint to all of my great friends :)

This is the note I wrote to start off last  years auction.

This blanket was just made, but it is almost 5 years in the making. Approx 5 years ago I met the beautiful curly haired Mom of two beautifully curly haired twin girls. I made her a blanket for each of her girls. One was the white/pink ballet slippers and the other was the pink/pink ballet slippers.  I was recently cleaning out my fabric stash and I found a meter of the white/pink ballet slippers and 1/2 a meter of the pink/pink ballet slippers. I was SO shocked and surprised when I found this fabric.
A couple of years later I made 2 rag quilts for these same beautiful twin girls.  I made them as a comfort item, you see one of those twin was diagnosed with cancer :( such an awful disease and it eventually took her life :( We are nearing the 2 year anniversary of the day Sophia earned her wings.
I thought about what I was going to do with this special fabric, was I going to save it for my own grandkids (some day in the far off future) ? was I going to make a quilt and sell it.
I contacted Sophia's Mom and asked her if I could auction off this quilt in Sophia's honour. I was so happy when she gave me the okay :)
I am going to auction off this special "Sophia Quilt" and donate the money or toys to B tower at London's Children's hospital. I don't want the money to go to equipment or supplies. I want to either buy some special toys or donate it to Child Life to buy things they see a need for Childcan is another organization that helps the individual families directly. I want a child to benefit from this.
This blanket is made of soft flannel and is a rag quilt measuring approx 45 x 45 "

Happy Day #13

Today the LDCSB took over TD waterhouse stadium. This was the annual track and field meet. Brooklyn dreams of this day all year. She loves to compete and is just such a natural with all things physical activity :) I love to watch my kids doing things that they are wonderful at. :)

This was not a good track year for Brooklyn :( she was just not in a great place today. I told her to celebrate the ribbons she earned and learn from the mistakes that were made today.

 

In the end I got a smile and she is already planning for Cross Country in the fall :)



Happy Day # 12

Some days the happy moments can be shadowed by the unhappy :(  End of the day was NOT good. However, once I put some kids to bed I decided to finish cutting some fabric for a quilt I'm making.


This is the second quilt I've made for this customer and I am excited to get started.  Laura always brings fabric to me and it totally forces me out of my comfort zone. The finished product was great the last time so I'm confident it will be again :)

As I start to measure and cut the squares my kitty Missy always comes to claim what she thinks is hers :)

Happy Day #11

Today has been a very hot! I'm not complaining. I'm glad it is getting warm, We all need to enjoy the fresh warm  air and sunshine.

I planned on taking pictures of Brooklyn at the  TD Waterhouse  track meet. They cancelled it because of the weather forecast :(

Today our kitty Missy was SOOOO hot. She has so much fur. All day she  walks from room to room throwing herself on the floor. I won't shave her fur, I'm pretty sure that cats are mostly vain creatures and I would hate to cause Missy to be unhappy.

She loves the front window and lays like this all the time. We love her so much.

Happy Day #10

Tonight was soccer for Noah again and being a ref for the U6 games for Brooklyn. Noah loves soccer and this is his 4th year playing. :) I love to watch him run and play soccer. Tonight for the very first time ever Noah was goalie. He was nervous, I was nervous , I think the coach was nervous lol. Noah really did not want to be a goalie ........... However he was AMAZING!! he was kicking (booting) the ball all the way to the center line, over the heads of the opposing team! It was so great to see him shine. I love that he stepped WAY out of his comfort zone and succeeded. Because he was goalie for the first 1/2 of the game, he got to play the whole second half :)


I really love the sunsets at soccer, so beautiful, You can see in this picture the players with the neon orange :) that is Noah's team.

Happy Day #9

Today my happy was greatly influenced by food :) Enjoy the pictures.

This is for Brooklyn, it is so hard to get her to eat lunch at school. I'm always changing things up to keep her interested, Tomato, cucumber, green onions, zesty Italian dressing and Naan bread :) This is also really great if you out it on the Naan bread and bake it in the oven with a bit of grated parmesan cheese.

Happy Day / 8

Today was a beautiful day, Sunshine and warmth :) We went up to the school so the kids could ride bike/scooter freely. Also a chance for me to get some much needed vitamin D.

Noah my 7 year old was all over the playground acting like a Monkey as usual. I caught one picture of him and then went through some albums and found some more. Noah has been a monkey ALWAYS!!  hope you enjoy the pictures :)

Happy Day #7

Today is a happy day because my wonderful nephews turn 7!! They were born 7 years ago at 25 weeks. They spent 145 days in the NICU. They are my hero's

Such an amazing miracle, I am so incredibly blessed to have these boys in my life, I was lucky enough to have them spend a couple days a week with me and my kids for 4.5 years :) I'm looking forward to summer vacation this year :) Lots of fun to be had!

Happy Day #5

We almost didn't go to Soccer tonight.

When we arrived, the sky was dark and thunder was rumbling. We had a late start, but they played :)


I always see the best sunsets at Soccer, likely because I take the time to look. I can't do dishes, help with homework or clean anything up. I just sit and enjoy the moments :)

Happy Day #4

Today I made a Thomas quilt for a little boy about to turn 3 :) I've also made twin sized quilts for his big sisters and older brother too :)

I love the colours of this special quilt.



 Because I couldn't find any Thomas the Train fabric locally I grabbed a sheet set and used the top sheet. :)

 Found Treasures, My husband found my grandmother's jewelry box. It is all costume jewellery. So much fun to sort through and have the kids try things on :)

Happy Day #2

Our home has a cat, or well honestly our cat has our home.
Everything and everyone in this house has been claimed by Missy. 
If we put our hands on something and say 'MINE' Missy runs over and claims it as hers :)

Tonight my daughter was  sitting at the dinning room table doing homework. Then Missy decided that the chair was hers.

For some reason I couldn't post pictures, it works now :)
